The Queen's South Africa Medal w/clasps Wittebergen and Cape Colony issued to the next of kin of Horace Grove Croxton, who died of disease at Johannesburg on 20th July 1900.
Horace Croxton was born 19th August 1879 at Bishopsgate in the East End of London, to parents George and Lucy Emeline Croxton (née Husk). He was working as a clerk when he enlisted for service in South Africa with the 62nd Company, 11th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry in March 1900. He served for nearly a year in the field before falling victim to the scourge of enteric fever, dying at Bethlehem on 10th February 1901
