The British War Medal/Victory Medal issued to 15176 Alfred Henry Heather, 4th (Otago) Company, 2nd Battalion, Otago Infantry Regiment.

Alfred Heather was born in Dunedin, New Zealand on 30th December 1888. At the time of his enlistment in 1916 he was working as a labourer for the engineering firm of Cossens And Black in Dunedin. Alfred embarked with the 15th Reinforcements and joined his unit in the field in November 1916. In February 1917 he was admitted to hospital and later diagnosed with pleurisy and pneumonia. After convalescing for the remainder of 1917, he returned to New Zealand and was discharged in June 1918.

Both medals are correctly impressed 15176 PTE. A.H. HEATHER. N.Z.E.F.
