The NZTSM awarded to 2nd Lt. William Walter Dutton of the Unattached List in 1914.
W W Dutton had lengthy service with the NZ Volunteers/Territorials, and was awarded three other long service medals: Colonial Auxiliary Forces Decoration (NZ Gazette 1924/64), Colonial Auxiliary Forces Medal (NZ Gazette 1919/56) and the NZ Long and Efficient Service Medal. William Dutton also served for a long period with the Order of St. John, rising to become Assistant-Commissioner in the Wellington region. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of St. John in 1953 (L.G. 2/1/1953).
